2RH Checkmate Routine

Of course, the Red Horse would invade the other palace corner, had Black protected his King with A4+5 instead.

On Red’s second move, a passive R3=7 will result in losing the exchange after Black’s RxH.

R5+1 is the key move in this routine. If Black accepts the offer of the Chariot, then H6+7 (or H6+4) followed by checkmate with the Chariot. It would be a fatal mistake if Red captures the Chariot on move #5/11. Find out why yourself.

Note how Red uses checking to shift his Chariot to Black’s 3rd rank for the final onslaught.
